Stefanie Cohen, Congregation President

An active volunteer for many years, Stefanie Cohen felt honored to be called to serve as President of Congregation M'kor Shalom in June 2010. She is deeply committed to working with the extraordinary Clergy, Senior Staff and lay leadership to continue to grow a financially healthy,vibrantly spiritual home that meets diverse educational, religious and communal needs.Stefanie is passionate about fostering connections among individuals to create a true kehillah kedosha, a sacred community,and it is this love of connection and communication that drives her efforts on behalf of our synagogue.

Prior to assuming the presidency, Stefanie has served as Board Member, Ritual Committee Chair, and active participant on such initiatives as Communications, Membership, Major Fundraising, Rabbinic Search, Nominating Committee, and By-Law Review. She worked with clergy and other synagogue leaders to launch the Discover Shabbat and New Dimensions programs, which expanded the ways we explore spirituality and worship.

Professionally, Stefanie is an attorney who worked primarily in law firm strategic planning and marketing. For the last ten years, she has been fortunate to spend most of her time writing fiction, studying spirituality and volunteering at M'kor Shalom and for Samaritan Hospice, where she serves as a home visitor and vigil team member.

Stefanie brings to our Congregation a deep love of M'kor Shalom that took root 18 years ago when she registered her first child for Eema and Me. The relationships she has made over nearly two decades and the friendships formed have strengthened that love beyond measure.

Along with her husband Steve and their daughters Jessie (18), Maddie (14) and Lizzie (10), Stefanie is proud to call Congregation M'kor Shalom her spiritual home.
