Ritual Committee
The Ritual and Spirituality Committee honors tradition and embraces innovation. We strive to enhance the worship experience
for all congregants, focusing on Jewish life-cycle events, Shabbat and holiday experience, ritual practice and the pursuit of
spirituality.
We collaborate with the clergy regarding ritual and worship practices at
Congregation M'kor Shalom. Our practices encourage participation and spiritual growth for individuals as well as for
the congregation at large. We also work with other committees to enhance knowledge about ritual practice through joint
programming.
It is our goal to recognize and encourage diverse approaches to spirituality, prayer and ritual practice. We value
inclusion over exclusion. We strive to make our worship experience accessible to all. We appreciate the special joy
and spirituality available to us through the Hebrew language, English readings, music in many forms and creative prayer.
The Ritual and Spirituality Committee's responsibilities include collaborating with the clergy on both substantive content
and administrative details of all services and worship opportunities within the synagogue.
In all matters, the Ritual and Spirituality Committee will be governed by
Kedusha - the seeking out of the holy and divine
in our lives - and informed by
Halachah - Jewish laws and practice.
