Social Conscience
...through Social Action

Our members are involved in local and worldwide issues of Jewish importance, as well as human needs in general. Several projects are ongoing throughout the year - M'kor Shalom members cook and deliver dinner monthly to a soup kitchen in Camden; we send a monthly crew to renovate homes in Camden with Habitat for Humanity.

We are a member congregation of the Interfaith Homeless Outreach Council and host up to 12 homeless men in the synagogue for two weeks each year. M'kor Shalom congregants staff the Ronald McDonald House of Kids in Camden for two days and nights during Christmas.

The congregation is involved in interfaith programs with several churches in Camden to build bridges and understanding among our members. Educational speaker programs and text study are additional components of Social Action at M'kor Shalom.
