Jewish worship has always invited communal and individual participation. We warmly embrace this concept of involvement in services at M'kor Shalom. This invitation is apparent throughout our service as congregants and guests lead the congregation in English readings. The music of our services, traditional and contemporary, offers an invitation as well. The melodies we sing are our opportunity to infuse words of prayer with the deepest meaning. The music invites us to immerse ourselves in moments of sanctity, of celebration, of comfort, of personal as well as shared spiritual fulfillment.

Our prayerbook, created especially by our Congregation, makes each service distinctly our own. The Hebrew in our siddur is traditional in content, and much of the English is a translation or paraphrasing of the Hebrew liturgy. Many of the other English readings are creative, dynamic, and gender-neutral in their reference to God. We are committed to study as an integral part of our tradition.

Families celebrate their joyous occasions such as baby namings, B'nai Mitzvah, weddings and Confirmation in the warmth of our synagogue. During times of sorrow, our caring staff and your fellow congregants provide a comforting support system.

...with Our Choir

Our choir is one of many spectacular jewels M'kor Shalom has to offer. Conducted by Cantor Hochman and comprised of 45 volunteer members, the M'kor Shalom Choir is without question the finest, most accomplished synagogue choir in the region. In addition to enhancing and offering inspiration during our Shabbat and High Holy Day worship services, they perform in many other communities to rave reviews.
